Severed justice Review

REVIEW -30/8/2014

Severed  justice  is the third book  in the

I am not normally  one for MC books but for some reason there was something about this series  had that wow factor that grabs you at the start.

All the favourite characters return from books one and two and also some new characters.  This book is full with hot sexy and steamy scenes. And the bikers are even more bad a$$ than ever.

There a lot of twists and turns throughout  the book and there are also two heart stopping moments, that left me catching my breath.

It's really hard not to post any spoilers,  for this book but i promised i wouldn't. So if you want to find out what all the buzz is about then go download this book now!!

I can't wait to read the next book the SEVERED MC series.

Amanda Bennett

Hello Amanda,Tell us a little about yourself?
I like to think that what you see is what you get with me.
I am a mother, a wife, and an author.
I absolutely love that I get to be a million different
people in a million different
 places in my stories.
I am a HUGE 49ers fan and my life would
 be incomplete without football.. LOL.
I am an avid reader and I spend as much
time as I possibly can with my kids.

How would you describe your books?

All of my books have a little bit of real life put into them with some raw, gritty emotional turns. If you don’t like sex, then you may not like most of my books. Haha

What genre is your work mainly? Do you tend to stay in the same vein or are you hoping
( if not already) to explore new ventures?

Most of my books are in the New Adult category but lean a little bit more into contemporary romance. At the moment I tend to stay with what I write, but I am currently in the process of working on a vampire/supernatural novel.

Share with us a quote from one of your favourite characters?

“You did good, pretty girl. Damn good.” ~Madison “Cowboy” Raine from the Raine Series

Is it hard to come up with new idea's
and / or plot's?

Not really. I tend to have very vivid and fun dreams, so that definitely helps with coming up with new material.

How long does it take you to complete a finished book?

I can usually finish a book and have it ready to publish in a little over a month. (If I’m lucky ;)

What inspired you to write your book?

I’ve led a pretty intense life thus far and my first book was my way of dealing with all of the raw emotion from my past. I’ve always had a passion for writing, but after I wrote my first book, I was hooked and I’ve been writing ever since.

Who is the easiest character to write for and why?Hardest and why?

The easiest character for me to write is Madison Raine. I love writing a male’s perspective and with Madison, it just came naturally.

The hardest would be Bennett from the Broken Series. A lot of that series came from a few close broken realities and for me it was hard to get those down on paper just right.

Are your characters based on real people? People you may know on Tv / Movie stars?

Most of my characters are based on people I know, but a few of my main guy characters I shape around the looks of a certain famous person.
Without giving anything away ,what is / are your favourite scenes in your book?

I definitely love the intense scenes between the main characters. There is a sense of sensuality without being straight forward about it.
What's up next for you?

I’m currently working on the follow up to Protecting Lyndley, it is titled Chasing Carson and it is the second book in the U.S. Marshal Series. I’m also working on the fourth book in the Raine Series, which is Cami and Glenn’s story and it is titled This Courage of Mine.
 Do you have any hobbies?
I like to read, write, hang with my kids and husband, watch the 49ers play, play pool and I am a HUGE movie buff.

Is there anyone besides you in your
 family who writes?
My father used to write songs and poetry, but I am the only author…so far!
When did you start? What was your first piece? First published piece.

I started writing when I was twelve, but my first book that was published was Time to Let Go back in 2008.

Do you have any favourite books or authors?
I have 2 all time favorite books. Wuthering Heights is definitely my number one and I read it at least once a year. My second favorite is The Great Gatsby. Of course, I do like modern stories and romances but those two are my go to books when I want to get lost. I have quite a few authors that I absolutely love reading but there are just too many to list.

Of all the books and stories you've written
which is your favourite?

My favorite thus far is The Broken Series.
It definitely holds a special place in my heart.

Do you have a favourite character?
My favorite character would be Sloan from Misguided Heart. (For reasons I just can’t say ;)
What is your favourite genre to write?

I would have to say New Adult/College Age
What is your favourite genre to read?

I enjoy every genre really.

What are your favourite movies?

All time favorite movie would be Rebel Without A Cause. (I’m obsessed with James Dean) I’m also obsessed with Pretty in Pink and Love Actually.

How long have you been writing?

I’ve been writing for 21 years…OMG that makes
me sound so old.
Who or what has been your biggest literary influence?

My father. He used to write songs and poetry before he passed. And since the first time I read Wuthering Heights I absolutely fell in love with the written word and how with just a few simple sentences, you could be pulled into a world that is so amazing.
How Difficult is it for you to come up with one of your amazing plots?

Honestly, they just come to me so it’s pretty easy to pick one.
How about characters? Are they easily born and developed?

I use a lot of personality traits from people I know, so their personalities are easy to do. Along the way, I find that the character speaks to me and that helps me fully develop them.

Do you find yourself a struggling writer?

If by struggling, you mean that I struggle to shower on a daily basis, or brush my hair, or eat…then yes..haha I think to be a good writer you have to struggle. That’s what keeps me pushing myself forward.

About how long does it take you to take for you to complete a novel from concept to completion?

I can usually finish a full book in about 20-30 days

Have you ever trashed a novel or story before or after finishing it, feeling it wasn't turning out as you planned?
I’ve only done that once. I was about half way through, but then I got stuck. I couldn’t find a direction to take it that would have pleased me, so I trashed it.
Do you have a special time or place to write?

I like to write in my office in my house. It’s super comfy and quiet so I can’t hear my kids. I love to lock myself down there and just go to town. My favorite time to write is late at night. It sucks though because unfortunately, I need sleep to get my kids up and ready for school...LOL

Any funny experiences or quirks you'd like to
share with your readers?

Every day is a funny experience when you have an 8 year old and a 3 year old. As far as quirks, I can’t sit down and eat…I do ballet around my kitchen or wherever I’m standing in my house.

Which one of your books would you like to see
made into a movie?

How about all of them? No in all seriousness, I think it would be amazing if even one of them was made it into a movie, but I would choose The Broken Series. It’s very near and dear to my heart, and I think if it had the right people behind it, it would be amazing.

What is your favourite band/artist/song?

Ah, now this is super tough. I absolutely LOVE music, all kinds. I honestly don’t think I could narrow it down to just one favorite song or band. I like them all!!

What was it like to publish your first book?

It was a feeling I can’t quite explain or put into words, amazingly enough. It was a definite sense of accomplishment and pride. It was awesome rolled up in a ball of amazing.
What advice would you give to others who want to make writing their career?

Be willing to put in the time and effort. Writing isn’t an easy career. It takes patience and sacrifice. But in the end if you can make it, the sacrifice is totally worth it.

Do you ever get ideas at random moments, and if so how do you hang on to them?

All the time. I carry a pen and notebook in my purse at all times just for that reason.
How do you overcome writers block?

Music and exercise. I believe that music is a cure for anything.

Can you write on demand and under pressure, or do you need time and space before the creativity starts to flow?

I prefer to do it on my terms. Sometimes I need time and space. If I am pressured then I don’t feel my work is authentic or even good for that matter.
Book one is available  on amazon  now.

Hello Kelly, Tell us a little about yourself?

I've been married to the love of my life
for over 20 years. I have one daughter,
two dogs, and two cats.
I live in the country and am not a city girl.
I'd rather be sitting on my back porch
 than doing anything else!

How would you discribe your books?

Romantic, real, funny, emotional and written from my heart

What genre is your work mainly? Do you tend to stay in the same vein or are you hoping ( if not already ) to explore new ventures?

Contemporary romance is mainly what I write. I will be writing a historical romance novel due out next year.

Is it hard to come up with new idea's
and / or plot's?

Not really. I have tons of ideas floating in
my head...just not enough time to get them
all down as a story!

What inspired you to write your book?

Depends what book you're asking about. The song Wanted by Hunter Hayes inspired my book Wanted. Some of my other books have been inspired by other songs, or things that have happened in my life or someone I know.

Who is the easiest character to write for and Why? Hardest and why?

They have all pretty much been the same to be honest with you. It was hard to write a few scenes. Like when Ari lost her baby because that hit very close to home for me. Other than that, I haven't had a real problem with writing anyone.

Without giving anything away, what is / are your favourite scenes in your book ( s )?

The scene in Broken where Whitley and Layton are in the deer stand. Gunner and Ellie on the canoe ride. Josh and Heather by the river. Reed and Courtney's marriage...I have a ton!

Do you have any hobbies?

I like to garden (when I have time), read, hike and I love to go camping.

How did you come up with the title?

They just pop in my head most of the time.

How much of the book is realistic? Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

Sometimes. Most of the books are fictional with a little bit of real thrown in every now and then.

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?

Jane Austen

What book are you reading now?

Don't Let Go by Sharla Lovelace

What are your current projects? If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your books?

I'm about to finish up The Journey Home which is a stand alone novel. Nope...the only thing I would change is have my first book professionally edited.

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?

Not really. I just remember wanting to write starting at about the age of 14.

Can you share a little of your current work with us?

I'll just say it's nothing like I've done before.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

Finding time to write!

Do you have any advice for other writers?

Write for yourself. It's your story and only you know how to tell it.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

Thank you so much for supporting me and being just amazing! I have meet some wonderful people over the last two years!

What is your favourite genre to write?

Contemporary romance

What is your favourite genre to read?

Romance, historical romance

How long have you been writing for?

I've always written in some way or another. Professionally for two years.

What is your favourite  movie?

Steel Magnolias

How long does it take you to complete a novel from concept to completion?

Depends. I wrote Wanted in a little over a month. Longest has been three months.

What was your first published piece? And how was it to publish your first book?

I had an article published when I was in college. Wanted was my first published book

Have  you ever trashed a novel or story before or after finishing it, feeling it wasn't turning out as you planned?

Do you have a special time or place to write?

On my back porch or anywhere outside and quite!

Any funny experiences or quirks you'd like to share with your readers?

LOL! I am obsessed with bubblegum, I hate wet towels on beds, I won't swim in water I can't see through. I have to load the dishwasher because everyone else does it wrong!

Which one of your awsome  books would you like to see be made in to a movie?

What was the worse job you ever done?

Cleaning offices with my mother. I hated it but I didn't want my mother to have to do it alone.

Do you ever get any ideas at random moments, and if so how do you hand on to them?

I keep a recorder with me at all times and talk into it. Or I write it down in a notebook. Thoughts come to me all the time.

Can you write on demand and under pressure, or do you need time and space before the creativity starts to flow and how do you over come writers block?

Yes I can. I don't like to but I can. I have yet to suffer from writers block and I hope I never do!

Character interviews With - Ryan & Gabe

Ryan: What was running  through your head when you got pulled over by officer O'connor?

I just wanted to get home! He was hot, but a bit of an ass, though that was kind of my fault for pushing his buttons.

Gabe: What were your first thoughts  when you pulled Ryan over and you saw that she was half naked ?

I was trying my best to be a gentleman, especially since I knew she was a little younger than me. She looked good and she knew it. It was hard to ignore.

Ryan:How would you describe Gabe, the first few words that came to you when you first met him?

Hot. Cop. Jerk.

Gabe:What about you, how would you describe Ryan the first few words that was running through your head when you first met her?

Gorgeous. Confident. Trouble.

Ryan:How did you feel when you first met Gabes family,What were your first  impressions of  them?

Well, I met the men in his family first. I was nervous and worried. Overall, except for Gabe's brother and grandfather, they were intimidating. I slowly got used to them and their humor, though.

Gabe:What were your first impressions of  Ryan mother and what were you  thinking at the time when she was being  a real nasty piece of work towards Ryan?

I don't care for her mom. I was surprised to see a mom behave like that, and I just wanted to make Ryan feel better.

Ryan : Why did you choose those tattoos that you have?

All of them, except the heart, are tied to my grandmother in some way. I got the tattoos because they remind me of happy times, times I always want to be reminded of. The hummingbird is in memory of my grandmother, the dandelion is from where we would make wishes when I was a kid, the seahorse because of something my grandmother told me once, and then the heart was something I needed. The book tells about it in more detail.

Gabe:What is the most Romantic thing you have done for Ryan?

Ryan would say it's what I did for her birthday.
I'll agree with her.

Ryan:How  did you feel when Gabe surprised  you for your birthday?

Overwhelmed and loved. I love that he did that for me. It was the best birthday ever.

Gabe: When did you realise  it was more that purely  list between you and Ryan?

I'm not sure when I knew exactly, but it became more clear the more I was with her.

Ryan: What about you  when did you realise  is was a lot more than just lust between you and Gabe?

When he surprised me for my birthday. It was clear as day to me and it scared the hell out of me.

BOTH: Have you tried anything more adventurous  besides the handcuffs  in the bedroom?

<Ryan smirks, opens mouth to say something, but Gabe cuts her off.> I'd like to keep that between us.

Gabe: Why didn't you jump in to defined  Ryan when your mother was being really horrible to Ryan?

I was stunned speechless at first and then before I could, Ryan stood up for herself.

RYAN:How did you feel when Gabes mother came to apologise and then she told you He was hurt and in hospital?

I had mixed emotions, and then I was really worried for him.

Gabe: Are you still jealous of your brother even though you got the girl?

I wasn't ever really jealous of him, but I didn't like someone else hitting on Ryan, even if it was my own little brother who was just joking around.

Both: What is next for you both marriage, babies?

RYAN: Marriage and babies? I don't want that. Not yet anyway. I think we're going to continue like we are until I finish college at least. No need to rush. You're okay with that, right, Gabe?

Gabe: Yeah, I don't think we're at a point to think about those things yet. Ryan's still young and in college. I want her to focus on that until she's done.

All: Hey guys how are you all, How are the kids?

Travis: The kids are great!! Though we've had to pull back on letting Grandma babysit.

Jake:(Laughing) Right, on account that Grandma took them to the zoo and forgot one. To be fair her excuse was, "he was being too quiet."

JAKE: Why did you ask Kacey to be your  fake fiancée. Why couldn't  you  ask one of you many women?

Well, to be honest she's the only one that my family would have actually believed would say yes. I couldn't' just bring in any random girl. They wouldn't believe me.

TRAVIS: What Did you think when  Jake told you about his plan to have Kacey as his fake fianee?

That he'd lost his mind...not that I was ever really sure he had brain cells to begin with.

JAKE: Did you have feelings  for  Kacey when you asked her about being  you fake fiancée?

Um..well...I thought she looked really pretty but I think the feelings were more of friendship.

KACEY: Why did you feel so nervous  when jake told you that Travis would be picking you up?

Because the last time I saw him he'd glued my favorite novels together, back to back, as a joke. We didn't exactly get along growing up.

TRAVIS: Why do you tease Kacey so much and what's the worst  thing you have done to her?

She makes it too easy...when people react it's kind of impossible not to tease, and she always reacts. I think the worst thing I did was tell the entire football team that she had fungus and thats why she hated wearing flip flops. Swear the day she actually wore them all they did was stare at her feet waiting to see something off.

GRANDMA: When did you first realise jake wasn't  really engaged to Kacey?

Oh I always knew. I know all.

Kacey:How did you feel when you found out that Travis has had a massive  crush on you since he was younger?

For some reason it made me nervous and then really excited because he'd grown into this incredible man, it gave me hope that he still felt the same way.

GRANDMA:Did you  plan to set up Travis and Kacey all along and what made you decide to do that?

A grandma never reveals her secrets, why take the FBI do they run around giving people private information about their missions? They don't...

KACEY:How did you feel when you learned that Travis named his bunny after you?

Flattered, probably the funniest thing I've ever learned about him, though Im sure there will be more!

TRAVIS: How did it feel to have the girl you have always loved at last?

Like heaven...honestly words can't explain how complete I feel with her in my life.

KACEY:How did you feel when Travis  told you He bought the restaurant and when he kept your parents belongings?

Upset at first, but mostly at myself for not coming back to Portland sooner. The anger was quickly replaced with total humility that he would do something like that for me.

JAKE: How did you feel when Kacey told you how hurt she felt after that night you took her innocence  and you froze and walked off on her?

Like shit. No seriously. Like total shit.

GRANDMA : What Did you think when you found out Travis messed up and hurt Kacey the same way Jake had done a few years ago? When he walked off and freezing in her.

Well to be honest, if I'd had a taser I would have used it. The man had his head up his ass, good thing Grandma's there to pull it out. What else are grandmas for?

JAKE: What  made you finally open your eyes and see that Kacey was never the girl for you?

Travis...he looked at I'd never seen a guy look at her that way, it was love, true love and I realized that I probably looked at her in a totally different way. I respected her and she was my friend but she wasn't my soul mate.

JAKE/TRAVIS/KACEY: How did you feel about Grandma Nadine  meddling in you relationships  even though they turned out good?

Jake: Hah feels awesome, kind of like getting a root canal without novicane.

Travis: Hey I won in the end so I don't care.

Kacey: Grandma will always be my favorite, I need to learn tricks from her.

GRANDMA : Is there anything else you want to do for your grandsons and Kacey now that they are all settled down?

More grandchildren would be nice...that whole zoo episode was just a gross mis understanding.

TRAVIS :  How did you feel when you saw Kacey walking down the Isle to you?

I damn near bawled my eyes out and then felt like the luckiest bastard in the world.

Kacey: How did you feel knowing  that you finally  married the right Titus brother?

Like life was perfect.

JAKE: How do you feel now that you have stopped your player ways and found the perfect girl for you?

Im more calm, settled, and happier than I've ever been. I think the important thing is finding someone who's willing to put you in your place, on a regular basis, Char does that for me.

GRANDMA: Now all the kids are settled down, would you get married again?

Oh my! Settle down with one man? For a second time? Honey...why pick one when you can have them all?

And what words of wisdom  would you offer to new couple's  just about to get married?

Marriage doesn't make things easier, it makes things harder, so make sure that the person you marry knows the worst and the best sides of you so that when you do make that commitment it's forever not just for a while.

KACEY/TRAVIS/JAKE: How does is feel being a parent and do you want more children?

It feels fantastic and more children are def in the future if Grandma has anything to say about it, which she typically does. The last time Jake tried to silence her he got his ears boxed.
